MazenZoids is a series of mazes of varying difficulty that the user guides a ball , by tilting their Ithingy, through to get to either a button or a gate. Touching the button with the ball will produce either another button, or an exit gate.
All buttons (except for the first one on each level) and the exit gate are timed. If a timeout occurs, all buttons (and the exit gate) disappear and the user has to start over with the first button on the level.
Course hazards consist of spots, evil clouds, pits and carnivorous flowers. Active bad guys are eyeballs, smoke ghosties and centipedes. Touching any of the course hazards will kill the ball. Touching any of the bad guys will change the color of the ball. If the color of the ball is red and it is again touched by a bad guy, the ball will die. There are fruits falling, occasionally, which restore the ball to its previous color (unless it is green).
Every 1,000 bonus points earns a new life. However, the bonus point counter is reset every level, so the 1,000 points must be earned on a level.
Entering an exit gate will transfer the ball to the next level. It will also reset its color level to green.
The game has two modes. The Zoid mode has all of the course hazards and bad guys. The Maze mode has all of the course hazards (although the carniverous flowers are more limited in their ability to grab the ball) and no bad guys.
